[ Hotaru had only begun to seek out happiness right before she had arrived to Iniidae, and it was through the influence of others and seeing how they'd support her that she began to see past her shroud of low self-worth. Being bolstered by her new friends made her think she could aspire for any semblance of a better life. ]
My birthday's in January. I'll be 13. You go to a summer camp?

Thirteen's a pretty big age. We'll have to do something around the base for you to celebrate. But yeah! Yeah, it's kind of a special camp for people like me and Annabeth and friends of ours. Before I came here it was my fifth summer but we didn't spend most of the summer there anyway. [Which is a shame...he misses it, really.]
But it's not that important. Cookies. I'll meet you in the kitchen in a little while and we'll get started?
We don't have to do anything for my birthday. I'm fine as long as I'm around people I like.
